Apple hopes you’ll never have to use its Watch’s cleverest new feature

An Apple Watch characteristic that basically fired me up is the not too long ago added skill to set a number of timers directly. I do know that sounds foolish — however I depend on timers for cooking, chores, and simply to make me give up procrastinating. A number of timers! Life-changing!

However there’s one other new Watch characteristic that may sometime show much more helpful: fall detection throughout exercises. Say I’m out biking with my Apple Watch monitoring the exercise. My entrance wheel slams right into a department I haven’t seen. I fly over the handlebars and thump onto the path. My Watch buzzes: it’s detected a tough fall. I can faucet the Watch to verify I’m OK. But when I’m not OK, the Watch waits a minute then routinely alerts emergency providers and my emergency contacts.
