Garden club at Gary high school cultivates love of growing, nutrition education

Because the plot grew, Bodie-Fernandez started taking lessons by means of Purdue Extension to be taught extra about gardening. She obtained her Grasp Gardener certification, and the beds of lettuce expanded to a full-fledged city farm, full with goats and chickens.

Although she retired from Thea Bowman in 2020, Bodie-Fernandez continues to backyard at a childcare middle in Hammond. When she discovered West Aspect was seeking to begin a backyard, she was fast to become involved. 

With Bodie-Fernandez on the helm, the West Aspect backyard membership got here collectively in January.
