Kim Kozelichki works out at her gymnasium, MS Ahead.

The pop anthem “Watch Me Shine” blares by a Bluetooth speaker.

Josh carries a stopwatch and barks out units.

Kim raises an 8-pound kettlebell above her head.

“Is that mild, Koz?” Josh asks her.

They name her “Koz,” a nickname Daryl bestowed upon assembly Kim practically 20 years in the past.

“Midway!” Josh says. “Ten seconds! Time! Loosen up!”

Kim exhales and strikes to the following station, the place she winds and unwinds a chunk of rope round a pipe. As she rolls, a weight connected to at least one finish rises and falls.
