New mixed-income residence in Bronzeville opens: ‘I am blessed to be part of something so grand’

The event, at 508 E. Pershing Street, was born of partnerships between UnitedHealthcare, The Group Builders, Granite Improvement, Ujima, the Metropolis of Chicago, Ald. Sophia King (4th Ward) and the Chicago Housing Authority.

The model constructing is a mixed-income growth, with 24 items devoted to low-income housing, 20 items put aside for income-based lease and 16 market fee items.

A year-and-a-half after breaking floor on the constructing, almost the entire items are occupied by new residents.
