Nutrition program for seniors underway in Sumter, Lee counties

The Senior Farmers’ Market Vitamin Program, which is run by the South Carolina Division of Social Providers, is a seasonal grant program by the U.S. Division of Agriculture with a objective of supplementing the diets of low-income seniors with unprocessed vegetables and fruit from licensed farmers’ markets, roadside stands and community-supported agriculture packages.

Seniors should apply for the advantages on a yearly foundation.

Eligible contributors will obtain $25 within the type of 5 checks ($5 every) to spend at collaborating licensed areas. Certified seniors want to go to a delegated location of their county of residence and full an utility and current picture identification to take part. If authorised, the certified senior will obtain their checks the identical day. Functions can be accepted and checks can be distributed on a first-come, first-served foundation within the senior’s county of residence.
