NYT: China’s fitness to host Games questionable

The net version of the New York Occasions has run an editorial concerning the Chinese language tennis star Peng Shuai. Peng has reportedly not been seen in public since she made a sexual assault allegation in opposition to former Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli.

The editorial questions China’s health to host the Beijing Winter Olympics. It’s titled “The place Is Peng Shuai?”, and says when China is confronted with criticism its playbook is to “deny, lie, play dumb and hope it goes away and, when all else fails, strike again ferociously.”

The editorial goes on to say that “the very straightforwardness of her plight inevitably results in elementary questions on China’s health to host a worldwide sporting occasion that purports to observe an Olympic very best of constructing a greater world by sport.”
