Maybourne Riviera, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France
The Maybourne Resort Group (whose portfolio contains Claridge’s, the Connaught, and the Berkeley in London) selected a spectacular spot for his or her first French resort—a city on the Côte d’Azur the place Irish architect Eileen Grey constructed her iconic Villa E-1027 and, proper subsequent door, Le Corbusier constructed his summer season dwelling, Le Cabanon. The decidedly trendy 69-room Maybourne Riviera, designed by French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, is perched above the Mediterranean with envy-inducing views of Italy to the east and Monaco to the west; a worldwide who’s who of designers had been tapped for the interiors together with Bryan O’Sullivan Studio, Andre Fu, Pierre Yovanovitch, and Rigby & Rigby. Rooms had been impressed by the ever-changing sea— all have views, some embody personal swimming pools. The eating places are all helmed by cooks with a number of Michelin stars: Mauro Colagreco of Mirazur, Jean-Georges Vongerichten whose empire exhibits no indicators of stopping, and Hiro Sato of the notorious six-seat sushi bar Hakkoku.
