What’s Working: Cooking up good nutrition

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — In tonight’s What’s Working, issues are getting stirred up at an after-school program in Cellular. The Dumas Wesley Neighborhood Middle has cooked up a brand new program for underprivileged youngsters. Native non-profit, The Cookery Undertaking, is available in each different week to show a cooking class.

The cooking courses are a part of a STEAM curriculum that Dumas Wesley leaders try to show at their after-school program. STEAM stands for science, know-how, engineering, arts, and math.

“They don’t understand they’re studying math by studying to measure. It’s an awesome alternative to see how cooking pertains to our steam studying,” mentioned Joni Hendee with the Dumas Wesley Neighborhood Middle.
