Children, Food And Nutrition: Why Are Our Children Malnourished? – Prof Dr Muhammad Yazid & Dr Musa Mohd Nordin

The expansion of kids within the first 5 years of life is intently associated to diet. Therefore, if dietary standing is just not optimised, the youngsters in our nation could be at an obstacle, and we’ll proceed to see rises within the prevalence of stunting, losing, and underweight kids.

Based mostly on NHMS 2011 and NHMS 2015 information, all three parameters confirmed a downward pattern. Nevertheless when evaluating NHMS 2015 and MCHS 2016, all three parameters confirmed an increase of their respective prevalences.

The national prevalence in 2015 of stunting, losing, and underweight Malaysian kids was 13.4 per cent, 7.9 per cent, and 13 per cent respectively; in comparison with  20.7 per cent, 11.5 per cent, and 13.7 per cent in 2016. That is undoubtedly a most worrying pattern.
