Millions of children will miss healthy school meals when pandemic relief expires

“Congress failed children, backside line,” says Lisa Davis, who leads Share Our Strength’s No Child Hungry Marketing campaign. A large coalition of anti-hunger advocates and faculty vitamin professionals agree that Congress must act.

Due to the failure to increase the vitamin waivers, “many faculties and neighborhood organizations must cease or cut back meals over the summer time. … This places kids prone to lacking greater than 95 million meals this summer time alone,” Davis says. She says her group will preserve working towards an answer.

For now, the U.S. Division of Agriculture has its arms tied. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack doesn’t have the facility to resume waivers which are presently in place. That energy rests with Congress.
