Federal child nutrition waivers that have helped feed thousands of local children set to expire June 30 | Local News

Native college divisions have used the waivers—specifically, the waiver to permit the Seamless Summer Option through the college 12 months—to supply free breakfast and lunch to all youngsters since spring 2020.

“Not solely are we feeding everybody without spending a dime, however we get reimbursed for every thing,” stated Keith Conner, supervisor of diet service for Caroline Public Colleges. “Beneath [the Seamless Summer Option], we’re reimbursed for 100% for each meal we serve on the greater summer season feeding program price that’s normally used for non-school entities.”

Conner stated the upper reimbursement price has helped to counteract the impact of inflation and provide chain disruptions.
